Author: Jack Welch
Brief Summary: Mr.. Jack Welch, former CEO of General Electric, provides his honest thoughts, experiences and stories of his career.  His title is most appropriate, because he does act and write with a purpose and does not hold back.  His management and leadership style is something I enjoyed reading about.

Book Title Who moved my cheese?       
Author: Spencer Johnson M.D.
Brief Summary: Simple parable that reveals profound truths about change.  It is an amusing and enlightening story of four characters who live in a maze and look for cheese to nourish them and make them happy.  In the story the characters are faced with unexpected change.  Eventually, one of them deals with it successfully and writes what he has learned from his experience on the maze walls.  When you come to see "The handwriting on the wall," you will discover for yourself how to deal with change, so that you can enjoy less stress and more success.

Brief Summary: This book gives down to earth, compelling instruction and discussion on the issue of having spiritual success in your day-to-day life and personal Christian walk. For those person who are Christians this book is a good tool to refocus and achieved on their Christian journey.  For those who are not this book is a great form of instructions/counsel for you to start out on the right foot with God.

Brief Summary: Gates of Fire provides an exception fictional outlook on the concept of a nation-state, state of above self, cultural sacrifice, and timeless warrior spirit and ethos.  Set in ancient Greece the Pressfield’s fictional account of the events leading to the climatic Battle of Thermopylae captivates Marines and our culture.

Book Title EMPEROR SHAKA THE GREAT  A Zulu Epic  
Author: By Mazisi Kunene
Brief Summary:

Emperor Shaka is a poetic rendering in praise-song through the African tradition of oral history telling.  It tells of the history of the great leader, his rise to power as well as the Zulu people.    This can be a difficult read due to the prose, but worth it if you have a literary poetic interest.

Brief Summary: An exceptional reading on tactical lessons learned in leadership and warfighting.  Hill 781 is a fictional story of a battalion commander tasked to conduct continuous mechanized operations in purgatory at the National Training Center (NTC), until his unit gets it right.

Book Title THE AFFIRMATIVE ACTION DEBATE

Brief Summary: This book contains several essays, speeches, and articles from distinguished civic leaders, artist, scholars, businessmen, etc., tackling the topic of affirmative action.  It is a good read because it demonstrates the diversity and differences of opinion of the African-American community on the subject.

Book Title THE FINAL QUEST   
Author: Rick Joyner
Brief Summary: The Final Quest is a Christian epic that describes the journey of a faithful who has vision about the final battle between good (Heaven) and evil (Hell).  It is a quick read that provides perspective on the meaning on many Christian beliefs and scriptures.  It is not a boring reading of scripture.  The book is written along an adventurous line similar to something like Lord of the Rings.

Book Title ON KILLING

Brief Summary:

 

A must read for all commanders, NCOs, and anyone who will find themselves in conflict as well as leading men and women in conflict.  On Killing describes in a military psychologist form the effects of combat/conflict upon man.  It is a solid treaties on how to observe determine and lead men through the traumas of conflict.  Fight or flight is a basic premise in this book, which also covers the observations of SLA Marshall during WWII combat.  Trust me read this – it will save your Marines before, during, and after conflict.
